For grinding, abrasive duty the cast iron QBY is the tough option. Its heavy body absorbs the wear of sand, slag and mud far better than plastic, which is why it is a mainstay of mining, cement and heavy wastewater work.
Paired with a nitrile or neoprene diaphragm, a cast iron QBY moves slurry and sludge for long service intervals, and the few parts that do wear — balls, seats and diaphragms — are quick and inexpensive to change on site.
