Duty: 3 m³/h at 40 m head, 1 inch connections, diaphragms in F46, a fluoroplastic from the PTFE family. The only requirement on the body was that it resist corrosion, so we offered it in two versions, plastic and stainless steel. Both were in stock.
Electric or air-operated?
An air-operated QBY needs a compressor and an air line. An electric diaphragm pump needs only a power supply, which makes it the practical choice where there is no compressed air on site, or where the air system is already at its limit. Electric diaphragm pumps also avoid the running cost of compressed air, which is a significant part of the cost of air-operated pumps on long duties.
Air-operated pumps still have the edge where the pump must run dry for long periods, where flow is adjusted often by turning the air up and down, or where no electrical equipment is wanted at the pump.
Plastic or stainless steel?
For acids and many salt solutions, plastic is the economical choice. Stainless steel is stronger, takes knocks better and suits solvents and higher temperatures. With F46 diaphragms, either body gives wide chemical resistance on the liquid side.
Tested before shipping
Each of these pumps was run for an hour on the test bench before packing, so it arrives having already proved it works.
