For acids, a polypropylene body is often the most economical choice. Polypropylene does not corrode the way metals do, and it is far lighter than stainless steel. We have supplied polypropylene QBY5 pumps for acid duty in two sizes, 1/2 inch and 2 inch. Ask us for current stock.

Typical use
Approximate maximum flow
1/2″
QBY5, 1/2 inch
dosing, small transfers, sampling
about 1 m³/h
2″
QBY5-50
tank unloading, transfer between process tanks
12 m³/h
The QBY5 is the fifth-generation QBY. Its three-way pilot air valve avoids the dead point that can make older air valves stall, so the pump starts reliably and keeps cycling on continuous duty. More detail is on the QBY5 page.
Before you order
Name the acid and its concentration. Polypropylene suits many acids, but not all of them, and strong oxidising acids need checking
Give the liquid temperature. Plastics lose strength as they get hotter, so a hot acid may call for a different body material
Choose the diaphragm for the same chemistry. PTFE-family diaphragms cover the widest range
Check the flow at your real discharge head, not just the maximum figure
Send us the acid, concentration, temperature and flow, and we will confirm the size and the diaphragm before you buy.
How much does a QBY air diaphragm pump weigh, how is it packed, and how fast can it ship? Real figures from our orders, plus the spares to order with it.
