Why PTFE diaphragms on an aluminum pump?
The diaphragm is the part that flexes thousands of times an hour in contact with the liquid, so it is usually the first part to suffer from a solvent or an additive. PTFE resists almost all of them. Pairing it with an aluminum body gives a light pump with long-lasting diaphragms for oils, solvents, coolants, inks and paints.
When is aluminum the wrong choice?
When the liquid is acidic, alkaline or carries dissolved metals. The PTFE diaphragm would survive, but the aluminum body and manifolds would not. For acids and alkalis we suggest a polypropylene or stainless steel QBY instead, and for one electroplating customer we steered away from aluminum for exactly this reason.
Can the pump be painted to match an existing one?
Yes. The standard finish is the natural silver-grey of the casting, and the factory can paint the pump black. We have supplied black aluminum QBY-25 pumps for a customer who wanted the new pump to look the same as the one it was replacing.
My old pump says QBY3-25A or QBY3-25ALTFF. Is that the same pump?
QBY3 is the third-generation QBY, and codes like these come from older nameplates. The quickest way to match them is to tell us the port size, the body material and the diaphragm material, or send a photo of the nameplate, and we will confirm the equivalent pump.
How much does a QBY air diaphragm pump weigh, how is it packed, and how fast can it ship? Real figures from our orders, plus the spares to order with it.
