Rebuilding a 1″ PTFE WILDEN Pump: One Parts Enquiry, Explained

We recently quoted a buyer who sent us a list of eight WILDEN part numbers for a 1 inch pump, with one condition written at the top: new and original goods only, not used and not refurbished. The list is a good example of what a full PTFE rebuild involves, so here it is, line by line, with what Wilden lists for each part.

1. 02-1010-55, diaphragm, PTFE. The main diaphragm on the liquid side.
2. 02-1060-56, back-up diaphragm, Hytrel. PTFE is stiff, so it is backed by a second diaphragm on the air side. In build codes, PTFE with Hytrel back-up appears as TSU.
3. 02-1085-55, valve ball, PTFE. Listed for bolted metal pumps. Clamped pumps such as the P2 use 02-1080-55 instead.
4. 02-1125-03, valve seat, stainless steel. Listed for the bolted metal P200.
5. 02-4600-03, outer piston, stainless steel. It clamps the diaphragm to the shaft on the liquid side, so on a stainless pump it is in contact with the liquid.
6. 02-3840-03, shaft, stainless steel. Listed under Turbo-Flo. For comparison, the T2 shaft is 02-3820-03-07.
7. 02-3880-99, pilot sleeve. Listed for the Pro-Flo P2.
8. 01-2010-20, air valve assembly, polypropylene. A 1/2 inch number, but the same Pro-Flo air valve is used on the 1 inch P2.

What this list teaches

Look at items 3, 4, 6 and 7 together. The ball and seat are listed for bolted pumps, the shaft for Turbo-Flo and the pilot sleeve for Pro-Flo. One pump does not normally combine all of these, so before the order is placed it is worth checking each number against the nameplate. The quickest way is to send us the build code. A stainless steel PTFE pump at this size might read P220/SSPPP/TSU/TF/STF or P2/SSPPP/TSU/TF/STF/2000, and the code tells us clamped or bolted, the air system and the back-up material in one line.

If most of the wet end is worn, a kit can be simpler than single parts. For a TSU build, Wilden lists wet end kit 02-9814-55-203 for bolted metal P200, P220 and P230 pumps, and 02-9804-55-203 for the clamped P2, PS2, PX2 and T2.
