Product Overview

Where the water cannot stop, two pumps are installed side by side, each sized for the full duty. One runs and the other waits.

Layout

  • Each pump has its own isolating valves, so one can be removed while the other runs
  • Each pump has its own check valve, so the running pump does not push water back through the idle one
  • The two discharges join into a common header

Control

  • Alternate the duty pump regularly so both share the running hours
  • Switch to the standby automatically on a fault
  • Exercise the standby: a pump that sits for months may not start when needed

Parallel running

Running both pumps together does not double the flow in most systems, because the pipe resistance rises with flow. If you need more flow at peak, size for it rather than relying on the standby.

Typical Applications

  • HVAC
  • water supply and process circulation where the pump cannot stop
