CDL(F) Multistage Pump Troubleshooting: Low Pressure, Noise, Tripping
October 27, 2026 2 min read Haquan

| Symptom | Likely cause | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Low pressure | Air in the pump, wrong rotation, worn stages | Vent; check rotation; compare with the curve |
| Pressure falls slowly over months | Wear from grit | Filter the liquid; inspect the stages |
| Rattling noise | Cavitation | Suction pressure, NPSH, suction strainer |
| Leak at the shaft | Worn or dry-run seal | Replace the seal; find why it ran dry |
| Motor trips | Overload, low voltage, phase loss | Current and voltage on all phases |
| Starts and stops often | Pressure switch band too narrow, small tank | Widen the band or use a drive |
Compare the measured pressure with the rated head in the CDL(F) selection table. If the pump gives its rated head, the problem is in the system.
