In hotels and hospitals the problem is rarely the volume of sewage. It is what is in it: wet wipes, cloth, hair, plastic bags. Standard pumps with narrow channels block quickly in this kind of station, and that is why many of these customers ask us for the YW series.
The 80YW65-25-7.5 is a common size for this job. Outlet DN80, 65 m³/h at 25 m, 7.5 kW at 2900 r/min. The recommended working head is 12 to 25 m and the efficiency is 56%.
The impeller has a single or double wide flow channel. Inside, it looks like a short bent pipe with the same cross section from inlet to outlet, so there is no narrow point where rags can catch. On this DN80 pump, solids up to about 40 mm can pass, and fibres can be several times longer than the outlet diameter. It is not a cutter pump, and it will not shred everything, but blockages are far less frequent than with a closed impeller pump.
Most hospital and hotel stations use two pumps in one pit, one working and one standby, controlled by a level control panel. With vertical sump pumps both motors are above the pit, so the maintenance staff can check them during a normal inspection round without stopping the station.
One tip from our service team: after pumping thick or greasy sewage, let the pump run in clean water for a few minutes. It washes out the deposits before they dry inside the casing.
