Product Overview

50 m is the highest head in our YW range, and only two models reach it: 65YW35-50-11 and this one, 65YW40-50-15. It is rated at 40 m³/h and 50 m, with a 15 kW motor at 2930 r/min and a DN65 outlet. Efficiency is 63%.

Typical questions from customers

Is 50 m head really needed for a sump pump? In most cases, no. But when the wastewater goes through a long pipeline to a treatment plant some distance away, the friction loss can be higher than the actual lift. If the total head comes out above 40 m, this model is worth considering.

Can it be used for a lower head, for example 25 m? We do not recommend it. Our general rule is that the working head should not be lower than 60% of the rated head, and the recommended range for this model in our table starts at 40 m. At 25 m the pump would overload the motor. A different YW model will be cheaper and run better.

What if I need more than 50 m? Then the YW series is not the right pump, and we will tell you so. A customer once asked us for a 65YW18-70, meaning 70 m of head, with 2.5 m submerged depth and an explosion-proof motor. We told him the YW could not reach that head; the highest we could offer was around 55 m. He then asked whether a bigger outlet and more flow would help. It would not, because head is limited by the impeller and speed, not by the size of the pipe. He decided to take a quotation for the 55 m option. We would rather lose an order than sell a pump that cannot reach the duty point.

What maintenance does it need? The lower bearing runs in an oil chamber sealed by double mechanical seals. Please add or change the oil every 300 to 500 operating hours, using No. 10 to No. 30 machine oil. At 15 kW the seals work hard, and the oil condition decides how long they last.

Before first start

  • Check that the coupling is aligned; the difference between the two coupling halves should not exceed 0.5 mm
  • Turn the shaft by hand and make sure nothing rubs
  • Support the discharge pipe independently
  • Connect through an automatic control panel

Typical Applications

  • very long or steep rising mains
  • high-rise building drainage
  • transferring effluent to distant treatment plants
