Product Overview

Stormwater pumps stand still for weeks and then have to move a large amount of water in a short time. The 300YW800-20-75 is one of the larger YW pumps we build for drainage stations: 800 m³/h at 20 m, DN300 outlet, 75 kW motor at 980 r/min, efficiency 78%.

The 6 pole motor runs at about one third of the speed of our small 2 pole YW pumps. Storm water carries sand, leaves and debris, and at lower speed the impeller and wear ring wear more slowly.

Pay attention to the mounting height

A vertical sump pump keeps the motor dry only if the mounting plate is above the water. In a normal sewage pit this is easy. In a stormwater pit, the water level during a flood can be much higher than the normal level. Please design the height of the mounting plate for the highest possible water level in the pit, not for the normal operating level. A flooded motor is exactly the failure this type of pump is meant to avoid.

Choosing the right model

The working head range is 12 to 20 m. If your station needs a similar flow at lower head, look at 300YW800-12-45 or 300YW800-15-55 in the same family. As with all YW pumps, the head should not fall below about 60% of the rated value.

Before the rainy season

Pumps that have been idle for months should be checked before the first storm: turn the shaft by hand, top up the oil chamber, test the level controls and confirm the direction of rotation. A pump turning the wrong way still runs, but it delivers very little water, and this is one of the most common faults we are asked about.

Typical Applications

  • stormwater pumping stations
  • underpass and tunnel drainage
  • flood control
  • large municipal drainage pits
