Deep Well PumpsRiser Pipe for Borehole Pumps: Steel, Plastic or Hose?
The riser pipe carries the water and hangs the pump. How to choose between steel, plastic and flexible riser for a deep well submersible pump.

Model: 100QJ series (4 inch)
4 inch borehole pumps for wells from 100 mm: the 100QJ series, 2 to 15 m³/h and up to 230 m head, with its sealed oil-filled motor.
| Flow Rate | 2 to 15 m³/h |
|---|---|
| Head | 15 to 230 m |
| Power | 0.75 to 7.5 kW |
| Inlet / Outlet Diameter | Pump diameter 95 mm; outlet 40 or 50 mm |

A 4 inch borehole is the most common size for homes, farms and small supply wells, and the 100QJ series is built for it. The pump measures 95 mm across, so it goes into a well with a 100 mm inside diameter or larger.
| Flow size | Head range | Motor | Outlet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 m³/h | 50 to 200 m | 0.75 to 3 kW | 40 mm |
| 3.2 m³/h | 40 to 230 m | 0.75 to 4 kW | 40 mm |
| 5 m³/h | 24 to 220 m | 0.75 to 7.5 kW | 40 mm |
| 8 m³/h | 15 to 150 m | 0.75 to 7.5 kW | 50 mm |
| 10 m³/h | 48 to 130 m | 2.2 to 7.5 kW | 50 mm |
| 15 m³/h | 34 to 82 m | 3 to 7.5 kW | 50 mm |
The 100QJ uses a sealed, oil-filled motor. Unlike water-filled motors, it is not filled with water before installation, and it should not be opened to do so.
Because the pump is narrow, it reaches high heads by adding stages. The 100QJ3.2-230/34, for example, has 34 stages and lifts 3.2 m³/h to 230 m with a 4 kW motor. That makes the 4 inch size useful for deep wells in hill areas where the yield is small but the water is far down.
Every 100QJ model is listed in our QJ selection table.
