Product Overview

These three pumps are often listed together, but they solve opposite problems. The quickest way to choose is to look at two numbers: how much water you need to move, and how high you need to lift it.

PumpFlowHeadTypical job
Deep well pumpSmall to mediumMedium to highWater from a drilled well
High-head submersible pumpSmall to mediumHighLifting water a long way up, or pushing it far
Axial flow pumpVery largeLowDrainage, flood control, irrigation canals, circulating water

Deep well pumps

Narrow enough to fit inside a borehole, with many stages to lift water from deep underground. Choose by the well diameter first, then by flow and head.

High-head submersible pumps

Multistage submersible pumps built for head rather than flow, for example to lift water from a river or tank up to a hilltop reservoir, or to feed a long pipeline.

Axial flow pumps

An axial flow pump pushes water straight along the pump axis, like a propeller in a pipe. It moves very large volumes but only to a low height. It is the pump for drainage stations, flood relief and irrigation canals, where the water only has to be lifted a few metres.

Send us the flow, the head and the water source, and we will tell you which type fits before you compare prices.

Typical Applications

  • groundwater supply
  • high-lift water transfer
  • drainage and irrigation with large flow and low head
