60 Hz and Special Voltage Pipeline Pumps and CDL Multistage Pumps

A motor runs about 20% faster on 60 Hz than on 50 Hz. A pump designed for 50 Hz then gives about 20% more flow and 44% more head, and needs about 73% more power, which its motor cannot provide.
Why this matters more for some pumps
- Multistage CDL pumps reach high pressures already; 44% more head can push the system over its pressure rating
- Pipeline pumps sit in closed loops where the system pressure limit of 1.6 MPa includes the pump head
- Large motors are expensive to replace after the fact
What we do
For a 60 Hz supply we select the hydraulics for the 60 Hz duty and fit a motor wound for it, at your voltage: for example 380 V or 460 V, or 440 V on ships.
What to send
- Voltage, frequency and phases
- Flow and head at the duty point
- Liquid and temperature
- System pressure
