The P4 and PS4 are Wilden’s clamped 1-1/2 inch plastic pumps. Both have ANSI flanged ports in polypropylene or PVDF. PSG lists 62 P4 builds (36 polypropylene, 26 PVDF) and 19 PS4 builds (11 and 8).
PSG figures
P4, builds 04-12814 (PP) and 04-12830 (PVDF): 94 gpm (356 L/min), dry lift 13 ft (4.0 m), solids 0.18 in (4.6 mm), 40 lb (18 kg) in PP and 51 lb (23 kg) in PVDF
PS4, builds 04-13718 (PP) and 04-13312 (PVDF): 100 gpm (379 L/min), dry lift 20.4 ft (6.2 m), solids 0.18 in (4.6 mm), 40 lb (18 kg) in PP and 52 lb (24 kg) in PVDF
Both: air pressure up to 125 psi (8.6 bar), 40 to 175 °F (4 to 79 °C) on these builds
What to take from this
The PS4 uses the Pro-Flo SHIFT air system, designed to reduce air consumption. On PSG’s figures it also gives a little more flow and noticeably better dry suction lift than the P4. The P4 has the bigger choice of builds, including several with PTFE diaphragms backed by a rubber layer.
PVDF adds roughly a quarter to the weight at this size. That rarely matters on a fixed installation, but it is worth knowing for a portable pump.
For more flow at the same port size, the bolted P400 and PS400 reach about 120 gpm (454 L/min).
