The P400 is Wilden’s bolted 1-1/2 inch plastic pump, and the PS400 is the same size with the Pro-Flo SHIFT air system. PSG lists 44 P400 builds and 34 PS400 builds in polypropylene and PVDF, all with ANSI flanges.
On PSG’s pages the two are close. The P400 (04-12812 polypropylene, 04-12810 PVDF) is listed at 120 gpm (454 L/min) with 15.9 ft (4.8 m) dry suction lift. The PS400 (04-13755 polypropylene, 04-13320 PVDF) is listed at 118 gpm (447 L/min) with 13.1 ft (4.0 m). Both pass solids up to 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) and take air up to 125 psi (8.6 bar).
That solids figure is the main reason to move up from the clamped P4: 0.25 inch against 0.18 inch, plus about 25 gpm more flow. The cost is weight. A polypropylene P400 or PS400 ships at about 56 lb (25 kg), and the PVDF versions at about 70 lb (32 kg).
Choosing between P400 and PS400 comes down to running hours. Pro-Flo SHIFT is meant to save compressed air, which counts most on a pump that runs all shift. For an occasional transfer duty, the P400 offers more diaphragm and seat options.
