WILDEN P2 1″ Stainless Steel AODD Pump: Order Checklist

The P2 is Wilden’s 1 inch clamped Pro-Flo pump. In stainless steel PSG lists 35 P2 builds plus a single XPS2. Most of the differences between them are invisible from outside, so here is the list of things we ask a buyer to confirm.

1. Connection: NPT or Tri-Clamp

21 of the P2 builds have threaded NPT ports and 14 have Tri-Clamp ports. Tri-Clamp builds carry an extra suffix in the code, for example P2/SSLLL/TSU/TF/STF/2070 (02-12467). The only XPS2 is also Tri-Clamp.

2. Diaphragm material

PTFE is the most common choice, on 14 builds. The others use Santoprene, Hytrel, EPDM, Buna-N, Neoprene or FKM. The PTFE builds we checked run a reduced stroke, with a maximum of 41 gpm (155 L/min) and 9.1 ft (2.8 m) dry suction lift.

3. Air side material

On a P2 the air side is polypropylene or acetal. That affects the temperature range: 40 to 175 °F (4 to 79 °C) with polypropylene and up to 180 °F (82 °C) with acetal. The XPS2 has a nickel-plated aluminum air side and is listed from -40 to 225 °F (-40 to 107 °C).

4. Solids and viscosity

Both models pass solids up to 0.13 inch (3.3 mm). Air-operated diaphragm pumps cope with thick liquids, but flow falls as viscosity rises, so tell us the liquid and its viscosity rather than relying on the water figure.

5. Old or new design

PSG lists some P2 builds under a “Pro-Flo P2 redesign” series. If you are replacing an older pump, compare the nameplate code with the lookup rather than assuming the parts are the same.

Shipping weight is about 37 to 40 lb (17 to 18 kg) for a P2 and 80 lb (36 kg) for the XPS2, according to PSG.
