Underground and around the mill, the QBY earns its keep on the fluids other pumps choke on: mine water thick with slag, mud and grit. It passes solids to 10 mm, wears slowly thanks to its clearance-free design, and can be dropped straight into a sump to run submerged.
Running on air, it is safe in the gassy, damp conditions where electric pumps are a worry, and it will not burn out if the sump runs dry. Cast iron bodies with tough elastomer diaphragms give the longest life on abrasive duty.
