Product Overview

Irrigation is one of the main jobs for deep well pumps. The right pump depends on three things: how much water the crop needs in the hours you can pump, how the water is applied, and how much the well can give.

Flow

Work out the volume needed per irrigation and divide it by the pumping hours available. Then check it against the yield of the well. A pump bigger than the well can feed will pull the level down to the inlet and trip.

Head depends on the system

Delivery methodWhat the pump must add on top of the lift
Open channel or tankLittle more than the height to the outlet
Drip irrigationThe operating pressure of the drip lines and filters
SprinklersThe sprinkler pressure, which is usually higher

Add the lift from the dynamic water level, the height above ground, the pipe losses and the pressure the system needs. That is the head to look up in the pump table.

Which pumps fit

For most irrigation wells of 150 mm and up, the 150QJ, 175QJ and 200QJ ranges cover 5 to 50 m³/h. For large wells with a pump house, a vertical turbine pump keeps the motor on the surface. Check sizes in our QJ selection table.
