ZWL Self-Priming Pump for Landfill Leachate Transfer

Landfill leachate is nasty and unpredictable — that’s the whole problem. Its composition shifts with the waste, the weather and the age of the cell, but it’s generally aggressive, high in ammonia and dissolved salts, variable in pH, and carrying grit, sludge and debris. A pump on leachate duty has to survive all of that, which points to a stainless steel ZWL direct-coupled self-priming sewage pump.

Built to survive the chemistry

Because leachate can swing acidic or alkaline and is chemically loaded, the wetted material matters most. The stainless ZWL (roughly pH 2–13) copes with that variability where cast iron would corrode. On a leachate transfer or collection sump, that durability is what keeps the pump in service instead of failing early.

Handles the debris, primes itself

Leachate carries grit, sludge and solids that clog tight-clearance pumps. The ZWL’s non-clog passage clears solids up to about 60% of the port diameter, so that load passes through. And because it self-primes and mounts on dry ground above the sump, it draws the leachate up on its own — no foot valve to foul, primes itself after the first fill — and it’s serviced above ground rather than down in a contaminated pit, which matters for safety on a waste site.
