Mining is hard on pumps in two ways at once. The slurry is abrasive and full of grit, so anything that spins wears out fast. And a sump has a habit of running dry the moment nobody’s watching, which finishes off most pumps for good. An air-operated diaphragm pump laughs at both — and Turbo-Flo is the version Wilden built specifically for the heavy end.
It moves abrasive, solids-laden slurry and it runs dry without harm, so an empty sump is a shrug, not a service call. Rugged metal construction and hard-wearing wetted parts soak up the abrasion, and with no shaft seal there’s no seal for the grit to destroy — which is how most slurry pumps actually die.
