Run a flammable solvent through a plain plastic pump and you’ve quietly built a static generator: charge builds on the non-conductive surfaces until it finds somewhere to jump, which near flammable vapour is the last thing anyone wants. Conductive Wilden pumps exist to stop that.
Made from static-dissipating materials and properly grounded, they carry stray charge safely away instead of letting it accumulate — which is why they’re the pump for fuels, solvents and other flammables in classified areas. Being air-driven helps too: no electric motor at the pump means no electrical ignition source to begin with.
