Viscosity is where centrifugal pumps quietly give up. As a fluid thickens, the impeller has to spin harder for less and less flow until it’s basically stirring rather than pumping. A diaphragm pump doesn’t work that way — it displaces a fixed volume every stroke, so thick fluid gets moved, not churned.
