Product Overview

Basement drainage is simple until water arrives faster than the building can handle it. A compact submersible pump can sit in a collection pit and automatically remove accumulated water when the level rises. Where the water may contain debris or sewage contamination, a non-clogging sewage pump can be more appropriate than a clean-water pump.

Built for Solids, Not Just Clear Water

The WQ/QW pump design supplied for this project is intended for wastewater containing solids and fibers. Its single-channel or twin-channel impeller provides an open passage, while the pump itself can operate submerged. This makes the basic arrangement straightforward: collect the water in a pit, install the pump, connect the discharge and use level control to operate it.

Float-Switch Control

A float switch can automatically start and stop the pump according to the water level. For a more complete installation, an automatic control cabinet can provide protection against leakage, phase loss, short circuit, overheating and overload. These features are particularly useful in underground areas where daily inspection may not be practical.

Fixed Installation for a Permanent Station

Where a basement drainage station is permanent, a fixed coupling installation can simplify future maintenance. A guide rail system allows the pump to be removed from above. For temporary construction or emergency drainage, a mobile installation with a flexible hose can be more convenient.

Sizing for the Actual Inflow

Not every basement requires the same pump. The required flow depends on the expected inflow, while the head depends on the discharge elevation and pipe resistance. Solids content and temperature should also be considered if the water is not clean.

Electrical Supply

If the building electrical supply is 415 V, 50 Hz, the pump motor can be customized to match that requirement. The final motor power and control cabinet should be confirmed from the selected pump and duty point.

A basement pump usually only has to prove itself once, during the worst storm of the year. Size it for that day, not an average one.
