The QBY air operated diaphragm pump​ is ideally suited for the chemical and petrochemical industries where safety and reliability are paramount. It can handle concentrated acids, strong alkalis, solvents, suspensions, dispersions, crude oil, heavy oil, greases, drilling muds, sludge, and various toxic, flammable, and volatile liquids. Because the pump is powered entirely by compressed air and produces no electrical sparks, it is inherently explosion-proof and safe for use in classified hazardous areas.
The pump’s isolation design is a key safety feature. The diaphragms completely separate the pumped fluid from the pump’s moving parts and the external environment. This leak proof pump​ design eliminates the risk of leaks, fugitive emissions, and environmental contamination, even when handling highly corrosive or toxic substances. The pump can also handle abrasive slurries and particle-laden fluids common in chemical processing without excessive wear, thanks to its slow stroking action and large internal passages.
For aggressive chemical service, the pneumatic diaphragm pump​ body can be specified in polypropylene (PP), PVDF, or stainless steel, with diaphragms made from PTFE or fluororubber (FKM). These materials provide excellent resistance to a broad range of chemicals across a wide temperature range (-15°C to +150°C). The pump can be used for drum emptying, tank transfer, reactor feed, filtration systems, waste collection, and emergency spill response. Its ability to run dry and self-prime makes it particularly valuable for unloading tank trucks and railcars.
