Product Overview

When a foundation pit or basement goes below the water table, the groundwater has to be lowered before digging can continue. Deep well dewatering does this with a ring of wells around the excavation, each with a submersible pump, drawing the water level down below the bottom of the pit.

How the pumps are chosen

  • Well diameter decides the series: 100QJ for 100 mm wells, 150QJ for 150 mm, and so on
  • Flow per well comes from the dewatering design, which depends on the soil and the depth to be lowered
  • Head covers the lift from the drawn-down level plus the discharge to the drain or settling tank

Conditions that are harder than a water supply well

  • New wells often carry sand at first, which wears pumps; develop the wells before long runs
  • Levels fall as the dewatering works, so check the pump inlet stays at least 1 m under water
  • Pumps run day and night for weeks; keep spares on site and log the current of each pump
  • Cables run across a busy site and must be protected

Send us the number of wells, the well diameter, the design flow and the depths, and we will propose the pumps and cables.

Typical Applications

  • construction dewatering
  • foundation pits
  • tunnels
  • basements
