Electrical compatibility is a small detail that can stop a pump project if it is left until the end. For many overseas wastewater installations, the required supply is 415 V at 50 Hz. A submersible sewage pump can be customized for this electrical requirement when it is specified during the selection and quotation stage.
The pump itself still has to be selected around the hydraulic duty. A typical WQ/QW non-clogging design uses a single-channel or twin-channel impeller and a large flow passage to move wastewater containing solids and fibers. The supplied product information gives a broad range of approximately 5 to 2,000 m³/h for flow and 5 to 50 m for head for the referenced series, although other product configurations may cover different duties. The exact model should be selected from the project duty point.
Motor voltage and frequency should be treated as part of the complete pump specification. For a 415 V, 50 Hz project, the manufacturer should confirm the rated motor power, starting method, current, insulation requirements and control cabinet arrangement together with the pump model. This avoids the common mistake of matching only the voltage while overlooking the hydraulic and electrical details.
Protection is especially important for a submersible motor. The supplied technical material describes a leakage sensor in the oil chamber and thermal elements in the stator winding. A control cabinet can be used to respond to leakage, phase loss, short circuit, overheating and overload. Float switches can also provide automatic level-based starting and stopping.
Installation can be adapted to the project. A fixed automatic coupling system uses guide rails and allows the pump to be installed or removed from above the wet well. A mobile arrangement can use a support system and flexible discharge hose, making it useful for temporary pumping or maintenance work.
For procurement teams, the most useful information to provide at the quotation stage is flow, head, discharge size, liquid temperature, solids content, installation method and power supply. If the requirement is 415 V, 50 Hz, state it clearly together with the duty point. This gives the manufacturer enough information to recommend a suitable configuration instead of offering a generic pump.
Treat 415 V, 50 Hz as one line in a longer specification rather than the whole of it. The hydraulic duty still decides which pump fits, and the datasheet for that specific model is what confirms the numbers before an order goes ahead.
