Product Overview

Sugar and starch processing produces some of the stickiest, highest-organic wastewater around — cane and beet washings full of soil and fibre, bagasse fragments, molasses residue, and starch-laden process water that clings to everything. For moving that reliably, a ZWL direct-coupled self-priming sewage pump earns its place.

Fibre, soil and stickiness

Cane and beet arrive caked in soil, and milling leaves fibre (bagasse) and pulp behind. That’s a classic non-clog challenge, and the ZWL is built for it — solids up to about 60% of the port diameter and fibre up to five times it pass through instead of building a choke. The self-priming action means it draws from the wash-water or effluent pit on its own, primes itself after the first fill, and needs no foot valve to jam with fibre.

Warm and seasonal

Mill effluent often runs warm, and the ZWL handles media up to around 80°C as standard. A mill also runs hard in season and idle off-season — the compact, low-maintenance ZWL suits that, with a low failure rate and easy dry-mounted servicing between campaigns. Cast iron covers general wash and process water; stainless steel is the pick where acidic process streams (starch, fermentation) are involved.
