Product Overview

Car wash and truck wash water looks harmless but it’s rough on pumps — it’s loaded with mud, sand, grit and road grime that settle out and pack the bottom of the pit. For emptying wash sumps and moving water to a recycling or settling system, a ZWL direct-coupled self-priming sewage pump is a tidy fit.

Grit is the enemy

The main issue at a wash bay is settled grit and sand — abrasive, heavy, and quick to build up. The ZWL’s non-clog passage clears solids up to about 60% of the port diameter, so it lifts the gritty water rather than choking on it. And because it self-primes from dry ground above the sump — priming itself after the first fill, no foot valve — it draws the pit down without a submerged pump sitting in the grit.

Compact for a small site

Wash sites are usually tight on space, and the ZWL is a compact, horizontal unit — around 30% smaller footprint than an ordinary self-priming pump — that tucks in beside the sump easily. Cast iron is the standard, economical body; the low-maintenance design suits an operator who doesn’t want to fuss over pumps. For heavier grit loads, running at the lower speed reduces abrasive wear.

Range for wash-water duty

  • Self-priming height: 4.5–5.5 m (dry-mounted, no foot valve)
  • Footprint: ~30% smaller than an ordinary self-priming pump
  • Flow rate: 8–800 m³/h
  • Material: cast iron or stainless steel

Typical Applications

  • car wash bays
