Why mount the pump above the wet well

The pump and motor sit in a dry room or above a cover, with only the suction pipe in the sewage. Maintenance staff can check the seal, bearings and coupling without lifting the pump out of the sewage or entering the wet well. That is a real advantage for daily operation.

Design points

Keep the lowest sewage level within 5.5 m of the pump.
Keep the suction pipe short and airtight, under 10 m.
Two pumps, duty and standby, are normal practice for a lift station.
Size the wet well so the pump does not start and stop too often.
