ZW Self-Priming Sewage Pump Material Options – Cast Iron vs Stainless Steel Selection Guide

The ZW self-priming sewage pump is available in two primary body materials: cast iron and stainless steel. The material selection depends on the nature of the pumped media and the operating environment.

Cast iron pumps are suitable for general wastewater applications with media pH values between 6 and 9. They offer good wear resistance and cost-effectiveness for municipal sewage, construction drainage, and agricultural applications. Cast iron is the standard choice for most common wastewater handling tasks.

Stainless steel pumps (304 or 316 grade) are recommended for corrosive media with pH values ranging from 1 to 14. They are ideal for chemical industry, food processing, pharmaceutical, and other applications involving acidic or alkaline liquids. Stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance and longer service life in aggressive environments.
Both material options are available with standard or explosion-proof motors to meet different site safety requirements.
