ZW Self-Priming Sewage Pump Storage – Winterization & Long-Term Preservation Methods

Proper storage of the ZW self-priming sewage pump is important when the pump will not be used for extended periods. Before storage, drain all liquid from the pump body and piping. Flush the pump with clean water if it has been handling corrosive or abrasive media.

Disassemble the pump to inspect internal components. Clean all parts thoroughly and apply rust-preventive oil to metal surfaces, including the impeller, shaft, and casing interior. Store removed parts in a clean, dry environment. Wrap the shaft and other machined surfaces with protective paper or oilcloth.

Store the pump in a dry, well-ventilated building away from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures. Cover the pump with a breathable tarp to protect against dust while allowing moisture to escape. Rotate the shaft manually every few months to redistribute lubricant and prevent bearing corrosion. Before restarting after long storage, replace all lubricants and inspect seals and gaskets.
