The WILDEN P4 is a 1-1/2 inch clamped Pro-Flo pump, and cast iron is one of its body options. Wilden lists 30 P4 builds in iron, next to aluminum, stainless steel, polypropylene and PVDF.
For iron build 04-0127 (Buna-N diaphragms):
The aluminum P4 (04-11334) has the same flow and lift and ships at about 38 lb (17 kg). So the iron version does not pump more; it is chosen for its body material.
Cast iron is a common choice for abrasive liquids, sludge and general industrial transfer where a heavier, tougher casing is preferred. It is not the right choice for acids or for liquids that must not pick up iron. For those, stainless steel or plastic is the better fit.
Wilden does not publish a maximum solids size on the P4 pages we checked. If your liquid carries particles, describe them when you ask and we will check the build.
