Aluminum and stainless steel suit solvents, paints, oils and many process liquids. Polypropylene and PVDF are the usual choice for acids and other corrosive chemicals. The diaphragm material matters just as much: PTFE builds run a reduced stroke and give up a little flow and lift compared with rubber diaphragms.
