On the T15 Turbo-Flo, position 1 on the parts list is the air valve assembly — part 15-2000-07, built in brass. It mounts on the center block and handles the same job it does on every AODD pump: directing compressed air to one chamber, then the other, which is the entire mechanism behind the diaphragms moving at all.
A T15 that stops partway through a stroke and won’t restart without the air being cut and reapplied is the classic sign this part needs attention — but check the basics first. Dirty or wet compressed air, low supply pressure, and a clogged muffler all produce the same stalling behavior without the valve itself being at fault, and they’re a lot cheaper to rule out than replacing a part that wasn’t the problem.
If the sealing surfaces are visibly scored, or the pump keeps venting air through the muffler even when it isn’t actively pumping fluid, that’s usually past the point where cleaning helps. Because this valve cycles on every single stroke for as long as the pump runs, it wears out faster than most of the air end’s other components — keeping a spare on hand isn’t overkill on a pump that’s actually busy.
