High Head Chopper Pump – WQK20-60QG Pushes 60 m, 7.5 kW

Sixty meters of head is no joke for a chopper pump. Usually, cutting pumps trade pressure for solids handling. But the WQK20-60QG manages both: 20 m³/h at 60 m head, driven by a 7.5 kW motor at 2900 rpm. When You Need This Kind of Pressure Think high-rise basements, long-force mains up a hill, or discharge from a deep valley pit to a ridge-top treatment plant. Standard 15–30 m head pumps stall here. This one keeps pushing, with the cutting system ensuring rags don’t accumulate in the high-pressure discharge line.

A Few Hard-Won Tips
Cable sizing: At 7.5 kW, don’t undersize your supply leads. Voltage drop at the pump terminal kills torque and cutting effectiveness.
Mechanical seal care: High head means higher internal pressure. Inspect the double mechanical seal (graphite–SiC) annually; any leakage shortens motor life fast.
Rotation check: Brief test run (<30 sec), swap any two phases if reversed. Never guess direction on a cutting pump — reverse rotation can affect cutter engagement.

Even the best chopper pump can develop issues. Here are five problems I’ve seen most often with WKQ/QG series pumps and how to fix them. Problem 1: Pump Runs But No WaterCause: Vapor lock or blocked…
Headworks are the front door of a wastewater treatment plant. Everything that comes down the sewer arrives here — rags, plastics, sanitary products, you name it. A chopper pump at this stage saves th…
Farm waste is different from municipal sewage. It’s thicker, more fibrous, and loaded with bedding material like straw and hay. An agricultural chopper pump needs to handle all of that without cloggi…
