Vertical ISG or Horizontal ISW Pipeline Pump? A Side-by-Side Comparison

The ISW is the horizontal version of the pipeline pump. It uses the same impellers and casings as the ISG, so a model number gives the same flow and head in either layout. The choice comes down to space, pipework and service.

ISG verticalISW horizontal
Floor spaceVery smallLarger, on its own base
HeightTaller, motor on topLow
PipeworkStraight through the pumpSuction at the end, discharge on top
Large motorsHeavy weight high upEasier to support

When we suggest the horizontal ISW

  • The plant room is low, or the motor is large and heavy
  • The pump is mounted on a skid or a trailer
  • You want to reach the pump from the side for service

A recent horizontal order

Three horizontal ISW pumps with 7.5 kW motors were supplied for a dust suppression water system, specified for 30 to 60 m³/h of fresh water at 20 m on 380 V. On a site like that the low profile and the solid base of the horizontal pump suit outdoor installation.

Either layout can be picked from the same model list.
