How to Read a ZWL Self-Priming Pump Model Number

ZWL model codes look cryptic until someone shows you the pattern — then they tell you almost everything about the pump at a glance. Here’s how to decode the ZWL direct-coupled self-priming sewage pump naming.

The core pattern

Take 80ZWL65-25-7.5 and read it left to right:

  • 80 — port (inlet/discharge) diameter in mm → DN80
  • ZW — self-priming sewage (non-clog) pump
  • L — direct-coupled (close-coupled) construction: impeller on the motor shaft, no coupling
  • 65 — rated flow in m³/h
  • 25 — rated head in m
  • 7.5 — motor power in kW

So without opening a single datasheet, you already know it’s a DN80 direct-coupled self-priming pump doing 65 m³/h at 25 m on a 7.5 kW motor.

You’ll also see the port number written at the front, like 50ZWL15-30 — same idea, 50 = DN50 port, 15 m³/h, 30 m head.

The material and motor suffixes

Letters on the end tell you the build:

  • P — stainless steel wetted parts (for corrosive media)
  • B — explosion-proof motor (on request)

So 50ZWL15-30PB is a DN50 direct-coupled self-priming pump, 15 m³/h at 30 m, in stainless steel with an explosion-proof motor.

Why it helps you

Once you can read the code, comparing quotes and matching a replacement is easy — the model itself confirms port size, duty point, material and motor type. If you tell us your flow, head and medium, we’ll give you the exact ZWL code that fits.

Range & model codes

  • Flow rate: 8–800 m³/h
  • Head: 10–80 m
  • Port size: DN25–DN300
  • Suffix: P = stainless steel · B = explosion-proof motor
  • Material: cast iron or stainless steel
