How to Read a Sewage Pump Model Number, e.g. 50QW15-15-1.5

Chinese sewage pump model numbers look cryptic, but most follow the same pattern. Once you know it, you can read the duty point straight from the name.

Part of the codeExample: 50QW15-15-1.5Meaning
First number50Outlet diameter in mm (DN50)
LettersQWPump series, here a submersible sewage pump
Number after the letters15Rated flow in m³/h
Second number15Rated head in metres
Last number1.5Motor power in kW

So 50QW15-15-1.5 is a DN50 submersible sewage pump rated at 15 m³/h against 15 m, with a 1.5 kW motor.

More examples from our range

  • 150GNWQ100-12-7.5: DN150 GNWQ cutter sewage pump, 100 m³/h at 12 m, 7.5 kW.
  • 200QW300-15-22: DN200 submersible sewage pump, 300 m³/h at 15 m, 22 kW.
  • 65WQ45-17-4S: DN65 pump, 45 m³/h at 17 m, 4 kW. The S at the end marks the stainless steel version.
  • 150QW100-30-15/2: the /2 means a 2-pole motor, which runs at about 2900 r/min at 50 Hz. A 4-pole motor runs at about 1450 r/min.
  • WQD90-7-3: 90 m³/h at 7 m, 3 kW. This is the single-phase pump we built for a customer in Dubai.

What the model number does not tell you

The code gives the rated duty point only. It does not tell you the voltage and frequency, the material, the cable length or the maximum solids size. Two pumps with the same model number from different manufacturers can also have different curves and dimensions. Always check the performance curve and the installation drawing, not just the name. For several QW sizes, both are free to download from our Technical Support page.
