Why the 8-50 and not its neighbours
In the CDL 8 size every stage adds about 9 m. The 8-40 gives 36 m and the 8-60 gives 54 m, so the 8-50 sits in the middle at 45 m. Picking the stage count this closely keeps the pump near its best point instead of throttling away extra pressure.
