Why a self-priming pump on a pond

The pump stays on the bank. Nothing electrical sits in the water.
No foot valve to clog with weed or silt.
Pond water with leaves, algae and fine sludge passes through the open impeller.
One pump can serve several ponds by moving the suction hose.

Points to watch

Keep the pump within 5.5 m of the lowest water level, and the suction line airtight and under 10 m. A strainer on the end of the suction hose keeps out stones and fish. For brackish or salty water, order the stainless steel version (P).

Many pond sites run a large suction hose and a smaller delivery line. We can size the two ports differently to fit that layout.
